One thousand kilometres (620 miles) south of the Iberian Peninsula, lays the complex of Canary Islands and only 115 kilometres (71 miles) from the closest point on the African coast. Their special position in the Atlantic Ocean and also their volcanic origin, are the main
reasons that those islands gather distinctive features in terms of geology and show unique scenery that no other all over Europe and Africa can match it. These natural elements help the existence of mild temperatures (22ºC - 72ºF average on the coasts) with little seasonal variation in temperatures between day and night.
